Building your own unique bicycle for a specific purpose, according to taste, is one of cycling's greatest pleasures. Here is an entry-level 1986 Schwinn Mirada Mixte that I purchased a few years ago from a local bike shop for forty dollars. I have always liked mixte frames, considered universal in most of the world, and the faux biplane fork crown and Sahara Bronze color of this bike appeal to me. Below you will see before and after photos of the Mirada in various configurations, with upright and drop bars with fenders (my preferred setup):
