From the collection of my friend Floyd Smith, a 1916 Mead Ranger Coaster Brake Special, accessorized with a Monteau County Fair Parade Banner and an 1896 Liquid Pistol for problem dogs. Note the British bakelite grips, mudguards, and Brampton pedals. The carbide lamp mounted on the front fork illuminates fore and aft. The teacup lamp with genuine Mead lens awaits a battery can. I remember the day "Mr. Mead" Smith draped the rare county fair banner over the rear wheel of this bike. No one loved Mead bicycles more than Floyd, and nothing was more fun than driving to Morris, Illinois to see his latest find.
