I am confident that the silver-with-green Pogliaghi racing bicycle you see here was built by Sante Pogliaghi himself, one of the great frame builders of post war Italy. Sante's bicycles were sought by Olympic and pro riders across the globe throughout the 1970s. (By the late 1970's, production had increased from 300 frames a year to 800, with as many as six staffers contributing to the builds). Finding an early seventies "Pog" is an exciting event for any collector.
I purchased this beautiful Pogliaghi from the original owner, who told me he bought it new in 1971. It is listed on the Pogliaghi Registry, Serial Number 9635. I believe the bike could have been built as early as 1970.
The previous owner had for some mysterious reason removed the head tube and seat tube transfers, which Jeff Bock replaced for me. With the exception of new cloth bar tape, the bicycle is as found. (Toe clips and straps have since been added).
