I bought this 1974 Schwinn Voyageur II for my Dad in a Cedar Falls, Iowa bike shop in the early nineties. It is essentially the same bike as the 1973 Sunset Orange World Voyageur featured elsewhere on this site. I recall that the dealer pointed to the "outdated" Dura-Ace components and said the bike was "dead-in-the-water." He was wrong. My father loved this bike, and rode it for several years. We upgraded the double plateau Dura-Ace crank to a triple (I saved the original crank, of course), added some Velo Orange fenders, Blackburn racks, Sachs-Huret odometer, rear view mirror, Lyotard pedals, Technomic stem, wider Nitto handlebars, long cage rear derailleur, Fujita leather saddle, and yes, even a kickstand. This "dead-in-the-water" bicycle still rides like a dream.
